Instant electric torque + no gears to shift = great holeshot. I figured it would be about 3rd gear when the Lambo got past him, but the Tesla is no joke.

The numbers say the Lambo should be ahead the whole way, but logically this result is exactly what I'd expect.
I want to experience the D

I think if he'd have gotten a perfect launch in the Lambo, he could have been on the Tesla's fender. I have a feeling though even with that perfect launch, the Tesla is quicker to 30 just because it doesn't have to wait a beat to get into it's power, it's just there.
And everybody wants the D these days.

Fast electric cars are like hot sex with no sound. Its nice, but something is missing.

That worked out exactly how I thought it would.
Don't street race. It's bad for you. at least it isn't full of people like that nissan GT-R video a form last week doing high speed test runs with traffic.

I disagree. It's different, but special in its own way. I love the electric whine and constant torque, the 'whooshiness' of it. It's not better or worse than the IC alternate, it's just different

Oh yea, I hate street racing. I hate that I watch the videos, and I try to avoid it.
I secretly hope that everyone who posts street race videos from public roads wrecks in one and loses their car and license. I hope they don't get hurt, but everything short of it

My favorite video from probably 10+ years ago now was a couple guys street racing their civics. Guy ham fists it to third instead of 5th. I think the caption said 4th to 1st but I don't think that's possible. Trans/engine blows and he spins out. Then panic sets in when someone said "the guy called the cops". I remember assuming from context it wasn't their first time racing in front of "guy's" house.

That's exactly what I wish for: irreparable damage to their car, possibly jail time, but no body injuries.
It just boggles the mind why people do it. Take it to a drag strip: they are plentiful and it's not be very expensive. Can't find a drag strip? At least try to find a big empty parking lot. Keep it off the streets. Too many people get hurt, it's not worth it.
Besides, it's not like street racing takes much skill. It's purely a contest of whos dick is bigger.

I want to see an instrumented test of the D 0-60. They say 3.2, but I suspect it's faster. I'd like to see 0-40 and 0-50 times compared to cars with similar 0-60s: I suspect the Tesla could stomp most to 40 but starts to trail off above it.

Yeah, the takeoff is really the Tesla's strong suit. Of course at a lot of stop light drags, 0-50 is really what you're talking about anyway. It's a super impressive car, there's no doubting that.

Sound is to sex what a cherry is to a milkshake; a great extra, but not needed to get the job done.

Holy shit, I know where this race happened. I've been over there a few times before.

Don't misunderstand. I'll take sex without sound. Please believe. I'd DD an S, but it just doesn't have that carnal, guttural combination for speed and sound. You know.....that roar or scream that you feel in the pit of you stomach, that makes your nuts tingle.

HAHAHAHAHA you're so right. It's like watching porn on mute.
